Pilkington escapes ban

George Pilkington's red card against Brentford has now been rescinded.

Port Vale boss Martin Foyle has been boosted by the news that George Pilkington's red card against Brentford has now been rescinded.

Pilkington was dismissed at Griffin Park at the weekend but referee Clive Penton has now conceded that he made the wrong decision.

Meanwhile, the club have been rocked by the news that goalkeeper Mark Goodlad is to miss the next six weeks after tearing a muscle on Saturday.

Foyle will now turn to reserve team goalkeeper Jonny Brain to deputise for regular number one Goodlad.

''It's unfortunate but these things happen in football,'' Foyle told the club's official website.
