Vale release seven

PORT VALE are releasing seven players on free transfers as manager Brian Horton prepares for a summer shake-up.

A quartet of defenders and a trio of midfielders make up the septet who have been informed they can leave Vale Park for nothing.

Defenders Phil Hardy, Alex Gibson, Paul Donnelly and Paul Taylor have been offloaded along with midfielders Ashley Dodd, Ben Simpson and Danny Maye.

Their engine room cohort Sean McClare has been transfer listed after only making a permanent move from Barnsley last November.

On a more positive note for Vale, though, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson (pictured) has been offered a new three-year contract to stay at the club while Michael Walsh has a two-year deal on the table.

Horton, who himself penned a fresh contract on Tuesday, also met with Sagi Burton to discuss the imposing defender's future.

Goalkeeper Dean Delaney has resolved his future with the Second Division outfit by agreeing a one-year deal.
