Midfielder ends doubts about his long-term future

Danny Spiller has committed his future to Gillingham by signing a new 18-month contract with the League Two club. The midfielder returned to Priestfield in the summer after leaving Dagenham & Redbridge and has scored twice in 20 appearances this season. His contract was due to expire before Saturday's game against Stevenage Borough, but he has now ended doubts about his future. The 29-year-old has secured a deal until the end of the 2011/12 season after becoming a key part of Andy Hessenthaler's side. Spiller had started his career at Gillingham, making almost 140 appearances for the club before leaving for Millwall in 2007.
