Gillingham boss wants pair to stay

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has revealed he would like to extend the loan spells of Rene Steer and Jaime Peters. Left-back Steer joined Gillingham from Arsenal last month and made his first start for the club in Tuesday's incredible 4-4 draw with Aldershot. Winger Peters has made three appearances since moving from Ipswich and Stimson has been impressed by the duo. Both players are due to return to their parent clubs after Saturday's game against Macclesfield but Stimson hopes they stay. "I'd like to keep both of them," he said. "Jaime probably hasn't played as much as he would have liked but they've both said they'll let me know after the game on Saturday. "Rene's got a good chance of starting again on Saturday, I thought he was probably our best defender the other night."
