Torquay ask for permission to sign emergency keeper

Torquay United defender Mark Ellis has agreed a new two-year contract with the League Two club. Ellis has made 28 appearances for the Gulls this season after spending a spell on loan at Forest Green Rovers earlier in the campaign. He is now set to follow the examples of team-mates Chris Robertson and Eunan O'Kane in pledging his future to Torquay. Gulls boss Paul Buckle said: "We have agreed terms with Mark for a new two-year deal." Meanwhile, Torquay have asked for permission to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan for Saturday's final game of the season against Notts County. Michael Poke picked up a thigh injury against Bury on Saturday and, with Scott Bevan also hurt, the Gulls are short of options for the visit of the League Two champions.
