Adam Legzdins has been urged to seize his chance to impress and earn a new deal with Crewe.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has found himself down the pecking order this season, playing much more regularly for the reserves than the first team.
His contract expires at the end of the season and boss Dario Gradi is unsure whether he will be staying with the club.
But with Crewe now safe from relegation and Steve Phillips struggling with a shoulder problem, Gradi is set to give Legzdins a chance for the remaining three games of the season.
"Adam is out of contract in the summer, so we will look to give him a go," Gradi told the club's official website.
"He is playing for the reserves today and we will have a look at giving him some games in the first team because we will need two good goalkeepers moving forward.
"In a way, he is playing for his future but his attitude has been excellent this season and he has kept himself going well.
"I think if you can get a good goalkeeper in and then have another good one pushing him on then you are halfway there."
