Vaughan's season ended early

David Vaughan will not feature again this season after having a hernia operation.

David Vaughan will not feature for Crewe Alexandra again this season after having a hernia operation.

The midfielder has been restricted to just four appearances in League One since February due to ongoing groin problems.

Vaughan has scored four goals this term, and will not get the chance to improve on that tally for The Railwaymen in the last two games.

The decision was taken for the 24-year-old to have surgery to ensure he is back to full fitness in time for pre-season.

Vaughan will sit out Saturday's home fixture against Tranmere and the final game of the season a week later at Nottingham Forest.
