ENGLAND STAR IN CREWE RETURN

FORMER Liverpool and England defender Rob Jones could be about to make a dramatic return to football after being invited to train with Crewe Alexandra.

Jones quit the professional game in 1999 after an unsuccessful attempt to resurrect his career with West Ham, but he is now aiming to boost his fitness prior to making a decision on whether or not he would be able to launch a successful comeback bid.

The ex-Alex favourite, who is still only 29, could face a potential stumbling block however, as he received a massive insurance payout when injury forced him out of the game.

Meanwhile, Crewe boss Dario Gradi is confident that striker Rob Hulse and midfielder Wayne Collins will be available for Saturday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday after both players missed the 1-0 defeat at Grimsby last week.
