Sky Bet Championship: Millwall will be without three key players for season opener

Millwall have confirmed trio Nicky Bailey, Ed Upson and Richard Chaplow will miss the season opener with Leeds on Saturday.

The Lions begin the new Sky Bet Championship campaign against the Whites at The Den on Saturday and physio Bobby Bacic confirmed the extent of their injuries.

He told the club's official website: "Nicky Bailey sustained a calf injury in the game against Real Mallorca on Friday night.

"We were hoping it was just from the initial contact of a challenge. Nicky has had a scan since and it has shown a small tear to his calf.

"We are desperately trying to get him ready for the Fulham game on August 16 but we will take it day by day as we do with any player carrying an injury.

"Ed Upson has a minor hamstring irritation and Richard Chaplow a small hamstring problem, but he is looking to resume training next week."
