Argyle boss tips winger to prosper

Plymouth boss Ian Holloway is has tipped on-loan Lee Martin to prosper after he made his debut in the goalless draw at Blackpool on Saturday. The Manchester United winger joined Argyle on a three-month loan after they fought off competition from several other Championship clubs. Martin started on the bench at Bloomfield Road but came on in the 60th minute and Holloway believes he will make his mark with the Championship outfit.

Gifted players

"Lee met us at the airport and he hadn't even trained with us, but he slotted in like a dream," he said. "He loves to run with the ball and unfortunately my lads don't know that yet. "But when he starts running at them on the training ground they won't like it! "He's a wonderful player to watch but I've got several very gifted players." Blackpool also saw an on-loan debutant enjoy a comfortable 90 minutes in a match which began with much promise. Veteran Matt Jackson, on a month's loan from Watford, slotted in at the back alongside namesake Michael.
Experienced
Seasiders boss Simon Grayson praised the experienced centre-back but insists that the club are on the lookout for further loan signings. "Matt Jackson did very well for us and is an experienced professional who showed his class," he said. "But we're still trying to sign more players on loan and the search continues. "We have been searching high and low and one or two players shouldn't have been playing."
