Sky Sports understands that League One promotion hopefuls MK Dons are planning a raid for Sheffield Wednesday striker Ryan Lowe. A prolific marksman in the Football League, Lowe formed part of an Owls squad which booked a return to the Championship in 2011/12. At 33 years of age, he is not considered to be a guaranteed starter at Hillsborough, but he played his part as Wednesday secured a runners-up spot in the third tier. Lowe, who has spent his entire career to date in the lower reaches of the football pyramid, joined the Owls with the intention of gracing the Championship at some stage.

Experienced

He only linked up with the fallen giants in the summer of 2011 and made it clear from the outset that he was there to win promotion. Lowe could, however, be denied the opportunity to test himself at the next level. It is believed that the MK Dons have their sights set on the experienced frontman as they look to bring in a reliable source of goals. Karl Robinson's side tasted play-off heartache last season and are determined to go one better this time around.
