Dale land Dagnall

Rochdale have moved quickly to fill the void left by Grant Holt's departure.

Rochdale have moved quickly to fill the void left by Grant Holt's departure by landing Chris Dagnall in a loan deal.

Holt's move to Nottingham Forest left Dale boss Steve Parkin short of attacking options but this has now been rectified by the signing Dagnall.

The 19-year-old striker has shown promise at Prenton Park but has been pushed out of the first team picture of late.

Parkin admits he has been tracking the player all season and having landed his man, admits the deal could turn into a permanent arrangement.

"We have been in constant contact with Tranmere this season regarding his availability and I'm just glad we've managed to get him in the end," Parkin told the club's official website.

"Inside our club people have been aware of my interest in him for a long time now and I'm genuinely excited by his arrival. We are also monitoring one or two other situations, including maybe one other striker and we'll see what develops shortly.

"Chris is a good young striker that will bring a different dimension to our play.''
