Setback for Rovers keeper

Tranmere keeper John Achterberg fears he needs another six weeks on the sidelines.

Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper John Achterberg fears he will require another six weeks on the sidelines.

Achterberg has been missing for Rovers since picking up a knee injury during the club's 6-1 defeat at Hull City before Christmas.

He was initially ruled out until the start of February but suffered a setback in training at the end of last week.

The 33-year-old is now concerned it will be the beginning of March before he is able to stake a claim for his return to the team.

"I started doing goalkeeping training again towards the end of last week and on Friday, when I was saving a shot, my leg slid on to the post," Achterberg told the Liverpool Echo.

"The physio said it would be six weeks at the very least for me to be back.

"I hope this does not put me back too much because I want to be playing again as soon as possible."
