Swansea and Tottenham will discuss a permanent transfer for Tom Carroll in the summer, according to manager Garry Monk.

Carroll, 22, is currently enjoying a season-long loan at the Welsh club, making 15 appearances in all competitions.

Monk says he is pleased with the midfielder’s progress and would be interesting in bringing the player in on a permanent basis, but he is not pushing the club to make Spurs an offer just yet.

And Sky sources understand Spurs will want to take another look at Carroll in pre-season along with their other young players currently out on loan.

Monk told WalesOnline: “It’s not something we have discussed yet – but we are not averse to it.

“We have spoken about Tom’s progress here and he has done well for us. He is young, has great potential, but we will likely talk more towards the end of the season to see if there are any options towards a longer deal.

“I have not spoken to Tom about it as I do not want him to have any distractions. I want him to worry about his football.

“Come the end of the season we need to hear from him and both clubs so we will assess it then.”

Carroll is a graduate of Tottenham’s youth academy and has previously spent time on loan at Leyton Orient, Derby and Queens Park Rangers.

He has made 23 appearances for Spurs but has never started a Premier League game for the club.
