Oldham trialist revealed

OLDHAM ATHLETIC have confirmed that Hednesford Town defender Ashley Williams is on trial at the club.

The Second Division promotion hopefuls included Williams in their reserve side that lost 1-0 to Walsall on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old performed solidly in the game, and The Latics will give him another chance in the reserves later in the month.

Williams has been with the Dr Martens Premier League outfit since 1998 after progressing through the youth ranks at Keys Road.

Oldham will be looking to add defensive cover to their squad after the broken leg suffered by captain Clint Hill in the midweek Worthington Cup defeat against Crystal Palace.
