Malcolm Crosby has left his role as Blackpool's head of player recruitment to become manager at Gateshead.

Crosby, 60, has a wealth of experience in coaching and managerial roles and followed former Seasiders boss Lee Clark from their old club Birmingham to the Fylde coast in November.

However, with Clark walking away from the Tangerines in May and Neil McDonald appointed in his place this week, Crosby has taken up the manager's position at National League club Gateshead on a one-year rolling deal.

McDonald has inherited a Blackpool squad which features just 10 professionals, and no goalkeeper, yet he is confident he can avoid the problems Jose Riga experienced in the job last summer and swell those numbers way before the season starts in 64 days.
