Nile Ranger has reacted with surprise at his contract with Blackpool being extended for a further year.

Ranger has not been involved with Blackpool's first team since November, when he returned to London due to 'family problems'.

The 24-year-old has been fined by the club since then for staying away from the club, but they have still decided to activate an automatic one-year extension clause after being relegated from the Sky Bet Championship.

Ranger uploaded a photo of a letter explaining the extension on his Instagram feed, and added his own comment, which simply read: "REALLY!?!"

Blackpool face rebuilding their squad over the summer after being relegated at the end of a season of turmoil, which ended with a protest against owner Karl Oyston that saw their final match against Huddersfield abandoned.

They have since parted company with manager Lee Clark.
