Middlesbrough are closing in on the capture of Belgian international midfielder Faris Haroun,
skysports.com understands.
The 25-year-old arrived in the North East on Saturday and, after watching Boro's opening game of the season against Portsmouth, opened talks about a move to The Riverside.
Haroun is available to move on a free transfer from his Belgian club, Beerschot, and now he is aiming to seal a switch to England.
Clubs in Italy, Germany and back in Belgium have shown an interest, but Haroun, who has six full caps for his country, wants to move to England.
Haroun spoke exclusively to
skysports.com about his prospective move to Middlesbrough.
"This is a very impressive place, England is where I want to be and hopefully I can now realise that dream with Middlesbrough," he said.
"The club has made me very welcome and it is clearly meant to be in the Premier League, and I am really excited."
Boro are now holding talks with Haroun and his representatives and could finalise a deal next week.
