Peterborough are interested in bringing back Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Tom Kennedy on permanent deals.
Fry fears knee injury could scupper summer move for Kennedy
Peterborough United's director of football Barry Fry has admitted the club are interested in bringing back loan duo Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Tom Kennedy on permanent deals next season.
Both played key roles in helping Posh gain promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt after joining on loan from Wolves and Leicester respectively.
However, Fry has revealed that, despite their interest in both players, Kennedy's recent knee ligament injury could scupper a return to London Road for the full-back.
"We would be interested in bringing both Nathaniel and Tom back here permanently in the summer, but the latter is injured and we've really missed him for the last month or so," Fry told
skysports.com.
"Tom suffered knee ligament damage, so he will be out for most of the summer and I really don't know whether there is a chance of bringing him here permanently because we would need to wait and see how he recovers before doing anything about it."
The futures of key trio George Boyd, Craig Mackail-Smith and keeper Joe Lewis have been hot topics since Posh sealed promotion to the Championship on Sunday, but Fry insists that he has full faith in stand-in Paul Jones to replace the latter next season.
He added: "We've got Jonesy here and Joe Day, who we signed from Rushden, so we've got three good keepers here and would be well covered should Joe depart this summer, but we will have to see what happens.
"Jonesy had a great game on Sunday and has maybe been slightly unfortunate not to play more games this season, but I'm sure that he will get his chance next year if Joe does leave."
