Rochdale midfielder extends deal until 2009

Rochdale midfielder David Perkins has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2009. Perkins' current deal with the League Two side was due to expire at the end of the season but he will now be staying at Spotland for an extra year. The 25-year-old joined Rochdale in the January transfer window from Morecambe, where he began his career. He has made seven appearances for the club this season, scoring one goal in the process in a Carling Cup tie against Stoke. Perkins will hope to maintain his place in the first team, with a trip to his old club coming up next month.
