Ritchie issues Pool warning

Andy Ritchie has warned that he will not allow Chris Brandon to leave on the cheap.

Huddersfield boss Andy Ritchie has warned his Blackpool counterpart Simon Grayson that he will not allow Chris Brandon to leave on the cheap.

The diminutive wide man spent the close of last season on-loan at Blackpool and played his part as Grayson's side secured promotion to the Championship.

Grayson saw enough of the player during his five appearances to conclude that a permanent deal should be pushed through, but Ritchie insists his services will come at a price.

Confident that should Brandon remain at Huddersfield then he would compete for a first team place, Ritchie is no rush to sanction his departure.

Ritchie told Huddersfield's official website: "I have spoken to Blackpool boss Simon Grayson about Chris and I have explained that we want a fee for him. I have given Simon a figure that we would expect to receive.

"If the deal does not suit all parties then it will not happen and we will happily welcome Chris back for pre-season as he is a valuable member of our squad.

"Simon is not certain of his budget for the coming season and so he is meeting with his chairman about it soon to clarify what he has."
