Seasiders axe six

Blackpool have confirmed the release of six of their current squad.

Blackpool have confirmed the release of six of their current squad.

Manager Simon Grayson has confirmed his retained list and has informed Les Pogliacomi, Stuart Anderson, Tony Butler, Matt Shaw, Rob Edwards and Danny Warrender that they can leave.

"All six players have made important contributions to Blackpool Football Club during their time with us and I would wish them all the best wherever their careers may take them in the future," said Grayson.

Grayson also confirmed that Jason Wilcox would be leaving after coming to a mutual agreement with the former England international.

Meanwhile, The Tangerines have retained the services of five over the players who were out of contract.

One year options on Lee Jones, Phil Doughty, Ciaran Donnelly and Rory Prendergast have been taken-up, whilst young winger Simon Wiles has signed on for two more years.

The club are also continuing talks with Neil Wood, Marcus Bean and Keith Lasley - who spent three months on loan at the club from Plymouth Argyle.
