Sky Sports understands Leicester are lining up a move for Nottingham Forest defender Wes Morgan.
Morgan's current deal at Forest expires at the end of the season and and as yet fresh terms have not been agreed.
The news has alerted a number of clubs to his possible availability during this month's transfer window.
A number of Championship sides are thought to be keen on the powerful central defender, but Leicester are keen to win the race for Morgan's signature.
Foxes boss Nigel Pearson is looking to bolster his defensive options this month and he has targeted a move for Morgan
The 27-year-old has established himself as a key player at Forest since coming through the ranks at the City Ground and was named in the Championhip PFA Team of the Season last term.
