Both were 3-0 winners in the division's opening round of fixtures and currently occupy the top two positions in the embryonic League One table.
Preston slipped to a surprise opening day defeat to Colchester last Saturday and needed a last minute winner to knock out League Two side Crewe in the Carling Cup in midweek. Manager Phil Brown will hope for an improved performance as well as a result against
Scunthorpe at Glanford Park.

Bournemouth bounced back from their opening game defeat to Charlton with a 5-0 Carling Cup rout of Dagenham and Redbridge at Dean Court. On Saturday they welcome
Sheffield Wednesday, who knocked Championship side Blackpool out of the competition on penalties in midweek. Wednesday's city rivals
Sheffield United meanwhile play host to
Brentford at Bramall Lane.
Wycombe and
Colchester needed penalties to decide who progressed in the Carling Cup in midweek following an entertaining 3-3 draw at Adams Park. The Chairboys eventually won the shoot-out 5-4, but United will have an early chance for revenge when the two sides meet again at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
