The young striker has scored 28 goals en route to The Iron clinching promotion to the Championship next season.
But Sharp is understood to want to play in the Premiership, with Everton, Fulham and former club Sheffield United chasing the £3million-rated hot shot.
The 21-year-old only has a further season remaining on his contract and Scunthorpe want to open talks regarding an extension.
And though there may be interest from the top flight in the summer, Scunthorpe will only sell if Sharp asks to leave Glanford Park.
"I can be absolutely clear about our position with Billy. We do not want him to leave Scunthorpe United," Iron chairman Steve Wharton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"It won't be money that tempts us - it will be when Billy tells us himself that he is ready to move on.
"When that time comes, then obviously we will try and get as much for him as we can. But as long as Billy is happy to stay here, we will do our best to keep him happy.
"I would hate to go into the Championship without our better players. I am sure there are bound to be other clubs looking at players like Billy and goalkeeper Joe Murphy who has also been outstanding for us.
"But we want to keep them at Scunthorpe."
