FA Cup replay round-up

MK Dons and Bury defeated non-league opposition to reach the FA Cup second round.

League Two sides Milton Keynes Dons and Bury have seen off non-league opposition to reach the second round of the FA Cup.

MK Dons defeated Conference North side Farsley Celtic 2-0 in their FA first round replay at The National Hockey Stadium.

After a goalless first half, Izale McLeod broke the deadlock on 63 minutes before doubling his tally from the penalty spot on 76 minutes.

Any hopes that The Villagers had of overturning the cup tie were dashed when both Simeon Bambrook (80) and Roy Stamer (87) were shown red cards before the final whistle.

MK Dons now host League One club Blackpool in the second round.

Bury edged out Conference club Weymouth after a seven-goal thriller at Gigg Lane.

Dwayne Mattis (10) gave The Shakers the lead before The Terras replied with strikes from Simon Downer (16) and Wayne Purser (20).

Andy Bishop (23) made it 2-2 before Weymouth took the lead again through Steve Tully (30).

Bury made it 3-3 through a second goal from Mattis (67) before Bishop (74) struck the winner to take Bury through to face League Two rivals Chester City in round two.

Macclesfield Town caused a bit of a shock by knocking out League Two leaders Walsall 1-0 at The Bescot Stadium.

James McNulty (83) scored the winner for Paul Ince's Silkmen, as Macclesfield recorded their first win of the season in the Black Country.

League Two rivals Hartlepool United await Ince's side in round two.

Scunthorpe United saw off League One's bottom club Cheltenham Town 2-0 at Glanford Park.

Ian Baraclough (26) and Billy Sharp (74) struck the goals for The Iron, as Cheltenham had Steve Guinan sent off (80) for serious foul play.

Scunthorpe will host Wrexham in the next round.

Late strikes from Alan Connell (85) and Luke Webb (88) saw Hereford United defeat local rivals Shrewsbury Town 2-0 at Edgar Street.

Their reward for going through is a home tie with Port Vale in round two.

A Justin Whittle own-goal (18) and a strike from Joe Burnell (45) allowed Northampton Town to see off League Two hosts Grimsby Town 2-0.

A visit to another League Two club in Barnet awaits John Gorman's Cobblers in the next round.

Conference club Stafford defeated South League Premier Division side Maidenhead United 2-0 at York Road.

A brace from Liam Murray (9, 78) sees Stafford through to meet Football League opposition in Brighton & Hove Albion in round two.

Finally, Conference side Aldershot Town defeated Ryman League Premier Division club Chelmsford City 2-0 at the Recreation Ground.

A Darren Barnard penalty (53) and a strike from John Grant (80) means Aldershot host Basingstoke Town in the next round.
