Doncaster Rovers captain Rob Jones has given boss Paul Dickov a major boost by returning to full training.

Jones has not featured for Rovers since September and the big defender's presence has been missed in the Rovers backline.

Jones returned from a long-term injury in summer only to pick up another unrelated injury in September which he has now fully recovered from.

With the busy Christmas period just around the corner, the 6ft 7in defender is looking to get back into action in order to help Rovers climb the League One table.

While he has been out Jones has been busy coaching the Doncaster Rovers development squad and the 35-year-old admits he has enjoyed the experience of coaching the younger kids.

"I'm a player first and foremost but coaching the development squad has eased the frustration of not being out there on a Saturday," Jones told Sky Sports.

"I am enjoying it immensely. I have got a good bunch of lads here, several of whom will definitely go on to play at a high level. They are learning and improving all the time."
