Les Ferdinand has emerged as the favourite to be the next Swindon manager after Sky Bet reported a run of bets.
The Tottenham coach reportedly heads a strong list of candidates for the position, which was vacated by Kevin MacDonald following a disappointing five-month spell in charge.
The job would represent a first managerial role for Ferdinand, who joined the Spurs coaching staff in 2008 along with Tim Sherwood, who is also considered a contender.
Martin Ling recently declared his interest in the job but is a 33/1 outsider having insinuated that the role may have already been filled.
Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "We saw a sudden surge of bets on Ferdinand taking the post on Thursday morning, prompting us to cut his price from 4/1 to 5/4, while Hartley has also been well supported in the market.
"We'd expect a appointment to be made fairly soon with pre-season well under way and it they money implies that it's a decision between Ferdinand and Sherwood."
