Hartlepool United are leading the chase for Middlesbrough youngster Charlie Wyke, Sky Sports understands.
The 19-year-old striker is yet to make his debut for Boro, but he did spend the latter part of last season on loan at Conference side Kettering Town.
Wyke, a product of Boro's famed academy, has impressed for their Under-21 side this season and a host of league scouts were understood to have watched him in action last week.
Middlesbrough played Chelsea Under-21s at Brentford's Griffin Park, and Wyke scored the second in a 3-1 success.
It is understood a number of League One and Two clubs are now keen on taking Wyke, but Hartlepool are reportedly favourites to land him on loan.
Sunderland's Ryan Noble, who spent time with Hartlepool last season, is another on Neale Cooper's radar.
