Sky Sports understands Preston have agreed deals to sign Shrewsbury duo Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Nicky Wroe.
The pair are available on free transfers after seeing out their contracts and look set to make the switch to Deepdale.
Cansdell-Sherriff and Wroe both played key roles in helping the Shrews secure promotion from League Two this season, making over 40 appearances apiece.
But they have elected to move on to pastures new over the summer and are on course to come up against their former team-mates in the colours of the Lilywhites.
Midfielder Wroe, who scored six times this season, started his career with Barnsley before taking in further spells with York, Torquay and the Shrews.
Australian defender Cansdell-Sherriff, who spent three years in Denmark with Aarhus before joining Tranmere and then Shrewsbury, will provide further experience to the North End backline.
