Saddlers striker still troubled by knee injury

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has revealed that he is still uncertain when captain Darren Byfield will return from injury. The Jamaican international has been sidelined since mid-September with a knee injury and has suffered several setbacks along the way. However, with the Saddlers struggling at the foot of the table and facing a replay against non-league Fleetwood Town to keep their FA Cup dream alive, Hutchings admits he is desperate to call upon the 34-year-old once again. "He can do a lot of straight running on it, but it is just the last little bit of twisting and turning that is giving him some problems," Hutchings told skysports.com. "How long is a piece of string? We don't know how long he will remain on the sidelines for as we keep thinking that we will be OK to resume training and then he has another little setback. "It is a bit of a problem for both him and us because ideally we would really like him back in the side. "Twisting and turning is a big part of Darren's game, so we need to get that right before even thinking about playing him in a game again. "We don't want to put him in too early and set him back another three to four weeks."
