Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has denied rumours linking him with a move for York's Richard Brodie
Iron boss has no plans to sign York striker
Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has scotched speculation linking him with a move for York striker Richard Brodie.
The 23-year-old frontman plundered 34 goals for the non-league Minstermen last season and fired them to a play-off final at Wembley, where they were beaten by Oxford.
That form has inevitably seen him linked with a move to the Football League and the rumours intensified after Brodie scored a wonder goal against Scunthorpe in a pre-season friendly last week.
Adkins has lost Paul Hayes and star man Gary Hooper over the summer and although he has brought in Bobby Grant and Craig Dagnall, he is still on the look-out for further options in attack.
However, he has been quick to distance himself from a move for Brodie, telling the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "There's nothing behind it at all.
"We're aware of who he is and he scored a very good goal against us, but nothing about it has come from me."
