Right-back fails to agree new deal with Huddersfield

Huddersfield have revealed Andy Holdsworth will leave the club this summer after talks broke down over a new contract. The right-back, who graduated from Town's Academy back in 2003, is out of contract in June and had been in discussions with the League One outfit about an extension, but no agreement could be reached and he will now move on. The 25-year-old has made 261 appearances for the Terriers, scoring eight goals, including the memorable winner against Leeds in April last year. Manager Lee Clark told the club's official website: "Andy is a top-class individual and it's been a pleasure to work with him. When I arrived at the club he was in the team as captain and he enjoyed everything about the role. Andy is a terrific professional and a good footballer. "This is the worst part of the job - having to let good people go. We all wish him well and he knows he will always be welcome back at the club for as long as I am here. We could not reach a deal with him and now he will move on. "I want to get my squad in place as soon as possible and having gone back and forth with Andy for a while, I have had to take this decision."
