Macc defender catches the eye

Macclesfield defender Matthew Flynn is attracting the attention of a number of League One clubs, skysports.com understands. The 19-year-old broke into the first team last term and this season he has produced a succession of impressive displays at the heart of the Macclesfield defence. His no-nonsense style of play has been the cornerstone of the Silkmen's resurgence after a sticky start to the league campaign, which has brought him to the attention of a host of clubs. Now it is understood Stockport, Crewe and Hereford are all tracking the defender - who can play at right back or centre-half. Flynn has just six months left on his current deal and it is expected interest could be forthcoming from elsewhere in either January or the summer. Flynn's agent, Rob Shield, told skysports.com that his client is currently happy at Moss Rose but is obviously flattered by attention from elsewhere. "Matty has developed very well under the guidance of Keith Alexander and enjoys playing for the club where he's been at since he was 14," he told skysports.com. "He just wants to get his head down and keep playing. Of course a move up the leagues is what every lower division player wants to do but unless something happens then he'll continue to put 100 per cent into every game he plays at Macc."
