Full-back put on the list after Wright commits future

Cheltenham Town defender Lee Ridley has been placed on the transfer list after veteran Alan Wright signed a new contract. Ridley only joined Cheltenham from Scunthorpe United on a three-year deal last summer, but will now be allowed to leave Whaddon Road. He made 10 appearances for the Robins last season, but was also sent out on loan to League Two clubs Darlington and Lincoln City. Robins boss Keith Downing admits that Wright's decision to extend his time with the club has prompted Ridley's impending exit.

Professional

"Alan's new contract means that opportunities for Lee Ridley will be limited, so he has officially gone on the transfer list," Downing told the club's official website. "Lee wants to play regular first-team football and if we can help him to achieve that we will. "He has remained thoroughly professional in everything he's done and has continued to work very hard in pre-season, but I cannot guarantee him a regular first-team place."
