Seagulls stalwart keen to stay next season

Gary Hart remains optimistic that he will be offered a new contract by Brighton & Hove Albion. The long-serving 31-year-old appeared to be on his way out of the club after failing to make an appearance in the first half of the season. However, the versatile Hart forced his way back into Dean Wilkins' plans before suffering a knee injury which is likely to keep him out of the final two games. Hart, who is approaching 400 appearances for the Seagulls, is now waiting to learn if he will be kept on by Wilkins next season.

Working hard

"Coming up to Christmas I was expecting to leave the club," Hart told the Argus. "I was all ready for that, I hadn't played one game. "I haven't given up hope. I had at Christmas, but after that I just thought I am going to work as hard as I can and see if it does me any good, even if for the next club. "Obviously, though, I want to be here. I like what the gaffer does. "Training is good and I would love to stay here. I would rather be with Albion than playing against them."
