City veteran commits to another season at Eastlands

Dietmar Hamann has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal at Manchester City. The German midfielder has enjoyed an excellent campaign and has proved to manager Sven Goran Eriksson he is deserving of fresh terms. Hamann rolled back the years at the weekend as his controlled display in the middle of the park helped City to a derby day success at Old Trafford. The 34-year-old joined City last summer but initially struggled for form due to a succession of niggling injuries. There have been no such problems this term and City have moved quickly to secure his services for next season. Hamann's existing deal was set to expire at the end of the present campaign.
