Crewe lodge new bid for new striker

Crewe Alexandra first-team coach Steve Holland has confirmed the club have tabled a bid for a new striker. The Alex had been set to land Cheltenham's Damian Spencer, but the deal fell through after he failed a medical. Although the identity of Crewe's new target remains a mystery, the club have been linked with Bury's Andy Bishop and Stevenage's Steve Morison. Holland has stated that while he is being thwarted in his attempts to bolster his squad, he will endeavour to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Frustrated

"I don't think we could be working any harder, but we have been left frustrated at the moment," he told the club's official website. "I've made contact with another club and we have submitted a fresh bid for a new striker. "Chairman John Bowler has made contact with their board and we hope to have a decision on that as soon as possible. "We will continue to examine possibilities and there is no need to panic because we want to get the right players in."
