Walsall have suffered an injury setback after striker Carlos Carneiro damaged his shoulder in training.

Walsall new-boy injured in training

Walsall striker Carlos Carneiro is looking at a long period out of the game after fracturing his shoulder in training. The Portuguese forward only moved to the League One club in the summer and had settled in to the first team well, featuring in five of their games so far. However after the freak incident in training, club physio Jon Whitney revealed the extent of the 32-year-old's injury. "The initial diagnosis is that it is more of a decompression fracture where the bone of the arm has been knocked into the shoulder socket after he landed awkwardly," he told the club's official website.

Mooney

Meanwhile fellow Saddler's striker Tommy Mooney should be back for Walsall next week after it was revealed his calf injury was not as bad as first thought. Manager Richard Money will hope to have his veteran striker back for Oldham's visit to The Banks's Stadium next Saturday.
