Luton receive Heikkinen boost

Luton manager Mike Newell has calmed fears that Markus Heikkinen had broken his leg.

Luton manager Mike Newell has calmed fears that Markus Heikkinen had broken his leg, saying he expects him to be back before the end of the season.

Heikkinen was expected to be out for the rest of the season after suffering a suspected fractured fibula in Friday's 2-2 draw at Birmingham.

But after undergoing successful treatment, the player is expected to return to action before the season end.

Newell told the club's official website: "I was told during the game it was a fractured fibula and that's what we still thought after the match.

"However, it was a bad gash which he has had cleaned out and there is no break.

"As long as there are no complications, which there shouldn't be, Markus should be back well before the end of the season."
