Eastwood sets sights high

Southend striker Freddy Eastwood is hoping to eventually move to The Premiership.

Southend United striker Freddy Eastwood is hoping a successful season could lead to a move to The Premiership.

Eastwood has proven a prolific scorer in the lower divisions and has the opportunity to test himself at Championship level this season.

But the 22-year-old has set his sights on featuring in the top tier and aims to continue producing the goods for The Shrimpers.

"I'm sure if I keep scoring lots of goals, bigger sides will show an interest," Eastwood told The Sun.

"All the time I'm playing well, hopefully the big sides in The Championship or The Premiership will keep an eye on me.

"The club doesn't want to let me go, but who knows what will happen if I keep playing well."

Derby County have showed an interest over the summer, with The Rams having two bids for Eastwood rejected.

Billy Davies remains keen on the former non-league ace, but is refusing to budge on his current valuation of the Southend man.
