Sky Sources understand that Leeds United will announce Uwe Rosler as the club’s new head coach at a press conference at 2.15pm this afternoon.

The former Brentford and Wigan manager emerged as the front-runner for the position after the Elland Road club spoke to three candidates.

Rosler is expected to sign a two-year contract with the option of another year at lunch time today.

It appears as though Leeds will not exercise the option to extend the contract of current boss Neil Redfearn after United owner Massimo Cellino was quoted in a newspaper labelling him as “weak” and a “baby”.

"Neil Redfearn does the (Leeds United fans') salute. He challenged me," Cellino told the Sunday Mirror. "If you are good, I can accept the challenge. But not if you are a bad coach.

"He has to respect the chairman. He has to respect the club. He's like a baby. He's been badly advised and used by someone. He is not a bad person but he has a weak personality."

Rosler has been out of work since being sacked by Wigan last year after 11 months in charge.

He previously spent two-and-a-half years at Brentford, losing the League One play-off final to Yeovil.
