Leeds striker Ross McCormack is poised to reject a new contract offer from the club, hastening his exit from Elland Road.
Manager Neil Warnock expects McCormack to turn down the enhanced terms put to him by Leeds, leaving the club with a big decision whether to cash in on the player or allow his deal to expire.
The 25-year-old Scotland international is unlikely to be short of offers after scoring 19 goals this season and Warnock admits a resolution is not in sight.
Warnock told the
Yorkshire Evening Post: "It's unlikely he'll sign.
"We've offered Ross an increase but his representatives made it clear that they're looking for a more significant increase after the season he's had.
"We've agreed to play it by ear and see where things go from here but he's going into his last year and it might be that people come in for him now."
Negotiations
The former Cardiff forward is one of a number of players whose future is in doubt with contract negotiations ongoing.
Captain Robert Snodgrass is considering a deal which would make him the club's highest-paid player, while Aidan White is yet to agree an extension to his contract.
White has already rejected one offer from Leeds but, due to the player's age, the club would be entitled to compensation if the 20-year-old joins another English side.
And Warnock admits the future of all three is up in the air.
"They've all had offers but there's no guarantee that any of them will re-sign," Warnock added.
"That's the nature of football and it's their prerogative. It's a big concern because you want to keep your better players.
"I can't say hand on heart that any of them will re-sign - but they might all re-sign."
