Leeds face competition to land former Portsmouth striker

Sky Sports understands Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande are set to go head-to-head with Leeds United for free agent Danny Webber. The 30-year-old has been without a club since last summer when his contract expired at Championship club Portsmouth. New Leeds manager Neil Warnock has quickly identified the former Manchester United trainee as someone who can bolster his attack and has reportedly offered him a contract until the end of the season. Webber had been a target for Warnock while he was boss at Queens Park Rangers and had previously signed him for Sheffield United, where he helped the club to win promotion to the Premier League. Guangzhou, however, have put together a lucrative package and the former England Under 20 international has met with officials from the club to discuss the move.
