Ashdown and Jordan could face Coventry

Steve Cotterill hopes to have Jamie Ashdown and Stephen Jordan in his squad for Portsmouth's opening game against Coventry City. Goalkeeper Ashdown is re-signing for Pompey having been released at the end of last season and defender Jordan is a free agent after leaving Burnley. Pompey are currently under a transfer embargo, but were given special dispensation to sign three players by the Football League and have already brought in Ibrahima Sonko on loan from Stoke. Cotterill is now waiting to see if the deals for Ashdown and Jordan will go through in time for Saturday's Championship opener at Coventry. "We've agreed terms with Jamie and Stephen - now it is about making sure we can lodge the contracts," the Pompey boss told The News. "That will be with the Football League and everything is in their hands now. We've done all we can on that one, all we can do now is sit and wait. "Hopefully we'll get the green light and the pair of them can be in the frame for Coventry."
