Experienced utility man pens one-year Leeds deal

Paul Telfer is staying with Leeds United for the rest of the season after penning a one-year deal with the club. The vastly-experienced utility man was originally snapped up by manager Gary McAllister earlier this month on non-contract terms. However, after making his first start in Leeds' 4-0 Carling Cup thrashing of Crystal Palace, The Whites have moved to retain his services until next summer.

"I played with Gary and I know what he's like and how he works," the former Celtic and Bournemouth defender told the club's official website. "I could have stayed down south, but when Gary asked me if I wanted to join up for training in pre-season it was a massive incentive for me. "I looked around at the crowd for the first home game of the season and that shows you what sort of club this is."
