Leeds are struggling on and off the field as they prop up The Premiership and seek a financial saviour to stave off administration.
Camara is at Elland Road on a season-long loan from Lens but claims he would not have joined The Whites had he been aware of the club's difficulties.
Though the 24-year-old concedes there is not a gloomy atmosphere within the club, he admits the situation he has found himself in is a new experience.
"Despite the bad results and the financial situation, the atmosphere is not bad," Camara told L'Equipe.
"In England, the state of mind is different. People are much calmer.
"On financial and sporting levels, the club is really down. It is the first time I have experienced such a situation.
"If I had known that, of course I would not have come.
"However, we feel there is an enormous potential in the club so living in such a situation is distressing.
"At first, we never had a meeting to keep the players informed. But since we accepted a reduction in our wages by 25 percent, the officials now keep us much more informed."
Leeds attempted to offload Camara during January's transfer window but the stopper refused to sign the papers to cancel his contract.
He has barely played since Eddie Gray replaced Peter Reid as manager but Camara feels he is now ready to stake a claim for a place after overcoming injury.
Camara continued: "Since the appointment of the new coach, the Frenchmen almost never play anymore.
"The positive side is I am fit and I know what that means after all the injuries I have known."
