Leeds close in on Camara

LENS have confirmed that they expect a loan deal to be agreed with Leeds United for talented defender Zoumana Camara at some point on Monday.

Sources in France over the weekend claimed the defender was in England discussing a move to Leeds, and this has now been confirmed by the Championnat outfit.

A brief statement issued on their official website read: "The loan of Papus Camara to the English Premier League team Leeds should, if all the parts agree, be concluded at some point today (Monday)."

It is believed the deal will be a season-long loan, with an option in place for a permanent transfer if he settles into life at Elland Road.

Leeds have confirmed the story, saying talks are at an advanced stage with a deal expected to be concluded on Monday or Tuesday.

Camara failed to hold down a regular place at Lens last term and will hope the move to England will resurrect his career.

Whites boss Peter Reid has been forced to trawl the leagues for bargain captures and he will hope Camara shows the form that persuaded Internazionale to sign the player in 1998 and Marseille in 2000.
