NEDVED HIT WITH UEFA BAN

LAZIO midfielder Pavel Nedved has been hit with a three-match European suspension for a `rough tackle` on Leeds defender Alan Maybury.

Uefa hit the Czech Republic international with the ban after he lunged at the Leeds ace in the encounter between the two teams at Elland Road last week.

Uefa confirmed the ruling, with a spokesman saying: "Despite the referee not having seen the incident, but based on video evidence, the body imposed a three-match ban on Lazio player Pavel Nedved for an extremely rough tackle against an opponent."

The incident occurred in injury-time of the 3-3 draw, with Nedved catching Maybury at knee level with his studs.

Maybury, who signed a 12-month extension to his Leeds deal on Wednesday, left the Yorkshire ground on crutches but has since made a recovery and played in Leeds` 2-0 reserve-team victory over Manchester United at York City`s Bootham Crescent on Tuesday evening.
