New Hull City manager to be confirmed on Friday

Hull City have called a 3pm press conference on Friday, at which they are expected to announce the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new boss. The Tigers have been without a manager since severing ties with Nick Barmby in May. He contested the decision to part with his services on the back of comments he made regarding transfer budgets, but failed in his appeal and is now looking for a new club. Hull have wasted little time in filling their coaching void, with Bruce quickly identified as a leading contender for the role. Sky Sports revealed on Wednesday that he had been offered the KC Stadium post and was to set to inherit the reins. Bruce has been out of work since being sacked by Sunderland in November 2011. He has spent the last few years coaching in the Premier League with the likes of Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland, but will now be looking to guide Hull out of the Championship and back to the big time.
